Most people love online shopping. Be it buying clothes, mobile phones or groceries, we prefer doing it online as its time-saving and convenient. In this busy life, people find online shopping comfortable as the product is delivered at the doorstep and you enjoy a wide range of options.
In India when you think of online shopping, the first thing that comes to mind is Flipkart or Amazon. Flipkart and Amazon are India's most famous online shopping portals which enjoy a large customer base. Both Amazon and Flipkart are intermediaries that help sellers connect with customers across India. Sellers on these portals sell a huge variety of products like clothes, footwear, electronics, stationery, furniture, grocery and so on.
Many people believe products on these platforms are sold by Amazon and Flipkart. But, this it is not true. These are just intermediaries who offer the platform for sellers to sell their products online. In order to sell the products on these platforms, sellers have to register themselves by following certain procedures.
These procedures consist of systematic background checks, business registration documentation, and multiple validation checkpoints, that must comply with Indian law as well as industry rules and regulations.
Even though these platforms take all the necessary steps to ensure high-quality products are sold, there are many sellers who sell low quality and fake products on Amazon and Flipkart. A few months back, Amazon and Flipkart had received notices on fake cosmetics being sold on their platforms. So, it is very important to check certain things while purchasing products on these platforms.
Many people assume Amazon and Flipkart are reputed companies and there is no chance of receiving fake products from them. But, as products are sold by third parties, there may be some situations where buyers may receive a fake product. So, it is very important to check product reviews and seller ratings while purchasing from Amazon and Flipkart.
Checking the product reviews and seller ratings, shows the authenticity of the product. It is always advisable to purchase the product with more positive reviews. In case the particular seller or the product has got many negative reviews, it’s good to avoid purchasing from that seller. While looking for the reviews, check the reviews of the certified buyers.
Go through the products carefully. Fake products are designed in such a way that they look exactly like the real deal. So, you must study the products carefully by reading the product description. Inspect the brand name and the logo.
Don’t fall for the offers which are too good to be true. If the seller is offering branded products at a very low price, it might be a scam. So, it is important to do your homework, before making the purchase.
Both, Amazon and Flipkart have taken all the necessary steps to identify and curb fake products from their portals. They follow a strict seller on-boarding process which consists of background and reference checks. Sellers are registered on these platforms only after satisfactory conclusion of the verification procedures.
If the sellers are found selling fake products on the portal, they are blacklisted and their products, delisted from the website.
