Aadhaar card issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), is one of the most important identity proof documents for Indian citizens and it is required at most places. Aadhaar card is not just an identity proof; it is also a medium to avail various government services. Your Aadhaar card consists of both demographic information as well as your biometric data. There is no minimum age for issuing Aadhaar card in India; it is issued to each citizen irrespective of their age.

Many Aadhaar card holders are not happy with their photographs in the Aadhaar card. In case you are facing the same issue, you can update your Aadhaar card photo by following some simple steps. Unlike updating Aadhaar card details online, there is no option to update your Aadhaar card photo online. You can change your Aadhaar card photo only through an offline method. In this blog, we will discuss the procedure to change your Aadhaar card photo.

How to change a photo in Aadhaar card?

These are the steps involved in changing your photo in the Aadhaar card

Step 1: In order to change your photo in Aadhaar card,  you must visit the nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Centre or Aadhaar Sewa Kendra

Step 2: You must then download the Aadhaar Enrolment Form from the UIDAI official  website - uidai.gov.in.

Step 3: Once the form is downloaded, you need to fill it up carefully.

Step 4: After the form is filled, you must submit it to the executive present at the Aadhaar Enrolment Centre and give your biometric details.

Step 5: Once the form is submitted, the executive will take your live photograph.

Step 6: The Aadhaar Enrolment center will charge you a fee of Rs 25 + GST.

Step 7: Once this procedure is done, you will get an acknowledgment slip which contains your URN.

Step 8: You can check the update status with the help of Update Request Number (URN), provided by the Aadhaar center.

Step 9: You can download the updated Aadhaar card online from the UIDAI website, once your request for photo change is processed.

If you are not able to submit the form by visiting the Aadhaar Enrolment Centre, you can get your photo changed in the Aadhaar card by writing to the regional UIDAI office. In order to do this, you must first download the Aadhaar data update correction from UIDAI website and fill in the necessary details. Once the form is filled, you need to write an application to the regional office requesting them to change your photo in the Aadhaar card.

Along with the application form, you must attach an attested copy of your new photo and a copy of your Aadhaar card.

After the updation is done, the new copy of your Aadhaar card is sent to your address.
