UMANG or Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance, was launched by the Government of India in November 2017. This app was launched with the intention of providing access to all government services at a single place. UMANG app is a common platform for several government services like Aadhaar, gas booking, crop insurance, National Pension Scheme (NPS) and Employee Provided Fund. The UMANG app is expected to have 1,200 services offered by various States and the Central Government. The app is available in 12 regional languages, in addition to English.
One of the attractive features of the UMANG app is, it allows you to check your EPF balance on your smartphone. It provides you with complete details on the amount contributed towards your EPF account.
In this blog we will discuss how you can check your EPF balance through the UMANG app.
The UMANG app is available in the Google Play Store, iOS App Store and Windows Store. You can download it from the app store of your mobile operating system. Once you download the app, you will get a one-time password (OTP) on your mobile phone, asking you to register.
You will then be asked to choose two security questions, which can help you recover your account, in case you lose access to your account or forget the PIN.
After you install the UMANG app on your mobile, you have to choose the EPFO option from the app's homepage. You then choose "Employee Centric Services" from the options given. After you click on Employee Centric Services, you will be shown three options, view passbook, raise claims and track claim.
As you are interested in checking the EPF balance, you must click on view passbook. After you click on view passbook, you must provide your Universal Account Number (UAN). You can now log in with the help of the OTP, which will be sent to your mobile number registered with the EPFO.
After you receive the OTP, you will be able to see your passbook. You can see the complete list of your PF contributions.
