To check the balance, all you have to do is give a missed call to the number provided by your bank. Disconnect the call after 2 to 3 rings. After disconnecting the call, you will receive a message from your bank which contains your bank balance and last five transactions. You don't have to pay any money for availing this service.

To avail this service your phone number should be registered with the bank. In case your phone number is not registered, you will receive a message saying your phone number is not registered for this service.

2.  *99# Facility

To make banking services available to the common man across India, National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) had launched a USSD facility for GSM mobile subscribers. This system is hassle-free and there is no need to have internet connection on mobile phone.

The common code of *99# is not related to any service provider or to any particular bank. It is a common code for all the service providers and banks. You just have to dial this number from your phone and follow the instructions which come up on the screen. You need to provide some details to check your bank balance.

Main advantages of this service are it works on all kind of phones and it can be used to check the balance on all the days including Sundays.

Other services from the *99# Code

1. This service can be used to transfer money by using bank account details of the beneficiary and IFSC code.

2. You can request for the mini statement of your bank account.

3. You can also send money using MMID and the mobile number of the beneficiary.

4. You can send money using Aadhaar card number of the beneficiary. For availing this service, bank account should be linked with Aadhaar card.

5. It can also be used to generate Mobile PIN or MPIN.
