How To File Banking Complaints Online With The Banking Ombudsman?

If you have any complaint against your bank, the first thing you must do is contact your bank and file a complaint. If your bank does not resolve this issue within a month or you are not happy with the bank's response, you can file your complaint with the banking ombudsman.

The Banking Ombudsman was introduced in the year 2006, for the purpose of resolving banking issues posted by customers. The Banking Ombudsman Scheme covers all scheduled commercial banks, scheduled primary cooperative banks and regional rural banks (RRBs).

While approaching the banking ombudsman, you must have proof that you have already filed a complaint with the bank. If you do not have this proof, your complaint will be rejected by the banking ombudsman. You must file a complaint with the bank within one year of action taken by the bank.

How To File An Online Complaint With The RBI Banking Ombudsman?

You should follow the steps below to file a complaint with the Banking Ombudsman.

1. Log in to the official website (https://secweb.rbi.org.in/BO/precompltindex.htm). There you will be asked, "Have you made a written complaint to the bank?"

You must click yes, if you have already filed a complaint with the bank. If you click "Yes" you will be asked, "Whether 30 days are over from lodging of the complaint with the bank or you are not satisfied with Bank's reply?". Click yes if the statement is true.

2. You will be asked to provide Bank name, Account no., Complaint name, Mobile no in the given text box.

3. After providing all the details you will be redirected to the complaint form. Fill up the form by providing all the necessary details such as name, address, bank name, complaint category, description of the complaint and so on and make the submission.

4. You can also upload the supporting documents to support the complaint. Supporting documents consist of the copy of a complaint, bank reply, evidence and so on. Documents should be in pdf or .txt format only.

Your complaint will be acknowledged once it is reviewed by the Ombudsman. Your complaint will be resolved within 30 days.
