5. Enable Two-Step Verification
WhatsApp has an optional feature called Two-Step Verification which is set up to add more security to your account. If you enable two-step verification, your attempt to verify the phone number on WhatsApp has to be accompanied by the six-digit PIN created by you using this feature.
6. Beware of scams on WhatsApp
As WhatsApp is an instant messaging app, there are chances of you receiving scam messages periodically; so you must be careful on these scams.
An example of this is many people had received a message regarding WhatsApp Gold or account expiry. It was claimed that the message was sent from WhatsApp. This was a trick played by fraudsters to make quick money. But, the fact is WhatsApp will never contact users through the app. Anyone offering a free subscription, claiming to be from WhatsApp is a scam just to cheat people.

In case you lose your phone, the first thing you must do is call your service provider and get the SIM locked. Use the new SIM card with the same number to activate WhatsApp on a different phone. Whatsapp can be activated with one number on one phone.
