Today, most people have bank accounts and they use debit cards to withdraw cash from ATMs and carry out online transactions. The number of people using credit cards is rising each day. In April 2019, a total of 47.99 million credit cards were in operation. While the number of people having bank accounts and credit cards is on the rise, bank frauds too are rising.

Fraudsters have come up with various tricks to hack your bank account and credit cards to steal money. In this blog, we will discuss how your bank account and credit card can get hacked by fraudsters.

1. Fake phone calls

This is a common method used by fraudsters, to hack your bank account and credit cards. It is popularly known as vishing. Fraudsters call posing as bank employees. They use various tricks and collect sensitive data over a call. The information collected is used to hack your bank account and credit card account. Fraudsters are well trained to do this job. They speak in such a way that you would believe, they are calling from the bank. To avoid this fraud, you must keep one thing in mind. Banks will never call asking for personal information.

2. Fake bank app

This is another innovative trick used by criminals to hack your bank account and credit card. Fraudsters develop apps which look exactly like original bank app. Through these apps, fraudsters steal personal information and use it to wipe out money from your bank account. So, you must be very careful while downloading apps on your phone.

3. Phishing

Phishing is another trick used by criminals to hack your bank account.  Under this fraud, you will receive emails which claim to be from a reputed company and sometimes, even in the name of the IT department. These emails have a link which will be redirected to fake websites.  You will be asked to provide personal banking information. This information is used by fraudsters to hack your bank account.

Some of these emails also contain attachments. Downloading these attachments installs malware or viruses on your computer, tablet, laptop, or even smartphone. Your personal information is easily stolen.

4. Screen-sharing apps

Your bank account and credit card can also be hacked through screen sharing apps. Fraudsters somehow make victims download screen sharing apps on their phone and gain remote access. Once the remote access is gained, fraudsters have complete control over the phone. They can access all personal banking information including OTP.
