PAN-Aadhaar linking: Link PAN with Aadhaar by Sept 30

Aadhaar card and PAN card are very important documents in India. Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has made it mandatory to link Aadhaar with PAN. The last date to link Permanent Account Number (PAN) card with Aadhaar is September 30th. In case you do not link PAN card with Aadhaar before the deadline, your PAN card becomes 'inoperative' from October 1st onwards. As per earlier rules, if PAN is not linked to Aadhaar within the specified deadline, PAN would be invalid.

In case of Invalid PAN, it’s just like you never had a PAN card. On the other hand, in inoperative PAN, you will not be able to use your PAN to carry out any financial transactions until you link it to Aadhaar.  But, the Government has yet to define the meaning of inoperative. The change from invalid to inoperative was announced recently to protect the previous transactions done by a cardholder using PAN."

If the PAN card becomes inoperative, the taxpayer will not be able to carry out any transactions where the PAN card is compulsory.

As the deadline nears, many people have a question "How can I link Aadhaar to PAN". So, it is very important for you to know how to link PAN with Aadhaar.
