There were days when you had to stand in a long queue to purchase train tickets.  Now, the way we purchase train tickets has changed. With the help of technology, we can book our train tickets online; just by sitting at our homes. This has eliminated the need to go out to purchase tickets. With the intention of making booking train tickets even easier and hassle-free; IRCTC has recently come up with a new policy.

Under the new policy, you are allowed to book train tickets now and pay later. This service is offered by IRCTC with the 'ePayLater' option and it is helpful for people who do not have money while booking a train ticket.  It is just like "buy now and pay later" services offered by various online shopping portals.

As per IRCTC, you can avail this service for both the reserved ticket and tatkal tickets. This service is very useful as customers don't have to face any delays or payment gateway failures when they are buying tatkal tickets.

The new payment facility, book now and pay later is available through ePayLater. ePayLater is a digital payment solution offered by ArthashastraFintech Pvt. Ltd. If you have booked a train ticket under this facility, you must pay the ticket charges within 14 days of the booking. In case you fail to pay the ticket charges within 14 days; you will have to pay the interest charge of 3.5% along with the applicable taxes.

How to book tickets under ePay option?

This is how to book tickets under ePay option

1) To avail book now and pay later service, you must log on to the IRCTC account.

2) After you log on, you have to enter the journey details to book your ticket.

3) After providing the journey details, you will be taken to the payment page. On that page, you will have to choose the payment option. You choose the 'Pay Later' option.

4) As soon as you click on the ‘Pay Later’ option, you will be redirected to the ePayLater.

5) In the next step, you must log on to ePayLater website using your registered mobile number.

6) After registering with your mobile number, you get an OTP.  After you enter the OTP, you can successful login.

7) You have to confirm the booking amounts and your ticket will be booked without paying any money.
