Is Cadbury distributing chocolate for free?

No, Cadbury is not distributing any chocolate for free. This is not the kind of fake message that is being circulated for the first time, but in the past there is a record of such incidents. Some messages claim that the Cadbury Company is distributing 5 baskets of chocolate on its 5-year anniversary, some have pulled the number down to 8, while some claim Cadbury is distributing a dozen boxes of chocolate on this occasion. However, the link given in the social media message says only the basket of chocolate distribution. In the past, companies like Amazon and Jet Airways have also been hit by such phony messages, where customers are offered a variety of freebies. Boom also spoke to those companies at the time, saying that no such proposal was made by the company.

RBI directs the likes of Paytm and PhonePe to have an internal ombudsman

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has directed large pre-paid instrument (PPI) issuers to set up an internal ombudsman mechanism to address customers' grievances. The banking regulator issued this diktat while announcing the monetary policy on October 4. A pre-payment issuer is typically a mobile wallet. Some of the popular and large PPI issuers are Paytm, Mobikwik, Zeta India, PayU, PhonePe and Amazon Pay. These large PPI issuers have been witnessing an enormous growth in their customer base and transaction scale, given the impetus around the digital agenda of the Government. The increased scale has led to a steady increase in customer complaints – a proportion of which is also related to fraud and misconduct. The internal ombudsman mechanism is imperative to ensure customer grievances are resolved in the most effective manner and within a defined timeframe.

E-commerce platform ShopClues has laid off about 200 employees as it struggles to rein in costs in the hyper-competitive online shopping segment in India. According to sources, ShopClues has sacked about 200 people as its efforts to find a buyer failed. When contacted, a ShopClues spokesperson said the company has been steadily reducing its workforce mostly in operating functions as it leverages gains from technology.
